Training is Essential when Promoting Frontline Supervisors
We’ve often emphasized the critical role frontline supervisors play in employee engagement and retention. Gallup’s latest release reinforces this point: promoting strong workers into supervisory roles without leadership training is a recipe for failure. Proficient performance in a particular job does not automatically translate into effective supervision.
Before you promote, explore opportunities to provide supervisory training, such as Gateway’s upcoming 10-week leadership series. Gateway also offers customized training through its Workforce Solutions Division.
Your company may be eligible for Incumbent Worker Training reimbursement through the Northern Kentucky Workforce Investment Board. To learn more, contact Todd Kyper at Todd.Kyper@NKADD.org.
Promoting top frontline performers into supervisors can backfire. Gallup data show why promotion based on supervisory talent and offering managerial training matters. Read the full report here.
