YouScience continues to guide students toward meaningful career pathways

At the January NKY Works Career Readiness meeting, Jennie LaMothe, Director of NaviGo and co-chair of the focus area, reported tthat nearly 51,000 students across our region have completed the YouScience assessment since 2019. The assessment identifies students’ aptitudes and innate abilities and compares them with their interests, helping students explore career options that align with their strengths. By completing YouScience while still in school, students can make more informed and confident decisions about education, training, and future careers.

Locally, NaviGo supports school districts in maximizing the value of YouScience and encourages parents, caregivers, and employers to learn more about the tool so they can help students fully use and understand their results. To support this effort, NaviGo will host a remote YouScience information session on Tuesday, February 24, from 6:00–7:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public; registration is required to receive the meeting link. YouScience’s impact is also expanding beyond K–12 education. St. Elizabeth Healthcare, a long-time partner of NaviGo, recently began administering the assessment to adult associates in addition to its student employees. NaviGo Executive Director Dr. Kathy Burkhardt described YouScience as a powerful collaborative tool for associate development, upskilling, and reskilling.

“We are seeing associates gain greater awareness of internal career pathways and identify opportunities to build new skills, strengthen existing ones, and better align their interests with both current roles and future growth opportunities,” she said.

This work is intentionally flexible and co-created, allowing both St. Elizabeth Healthcare and NaviGo to learn together and adapt based on evolving workforce needs and employee feedback.
